Its starting to look like Canadian cannabis law is lagging behind the US. No where in Canada is it legal to possess an ounce of pot for your own use like in the State of Alaska. We have had Medical cannabis for 12 years now and yet real regulation is still uncertain, and the black market still controls the 12 billion dollar per year North American Cannabis trade. (borders mean nothing to the mob) When will complete legalization take place in Canada?
I am starting to think that while it is obvious that Cannabis has many therapeutic, medical and recreational properties, we are being deceived by our administrations again. Basing ANY part of a program on the policy that produced cannabis prohibition is a FUNDAMENTAL FLAW.
It started with a pack of lies and used propaganda to misinform the public, was supported by yellow journalism, and any concept deriving from prohibition should now be completely SCRAPPED to make sure that any of the vestigal racist ideas of prohibition are removed completely.
Forcing regulation on sick people and charging patients money for licensing to grow or use cannabis is a deeply cynical and capitalist act of Parliament, supported by corporate greed, and fear that Cannabis may replace or render useless many over the counter and special drugs that they make and market with fear and propaganda every year. This Medical MJ policy is still just "Prohibition Light" and attempts to hold on to part of the old policy to in order appease its now non-existent US Drug War supporters.
In FACT, the whole concept of 'Medical Cannabis'' is based on the mistaken conception that Cannabis has a harmful effect, and should only be used for specific medical conditions, and is DANGEROUS to everyone else. [This is RACIST CORPORATE PROPAGANDA of the 1930 prohibition era.] This has long been proven to be nothing but lies designed to jump-start the plastic and petroleum industries. Their addiction to money is the real story here.
In my opinion, any amount of prohibition of Cannabis is like giving a gigantic middle finger to the ten thousand year history of Cannabis and its companionship with mankind, and completely ignores how Cannabis has nurtured all of our families for eons immemorial, providing everything from linen to paper and rope, medicines, seeds and protection of the environment. Cannabis has fed and clothed us always, protecting us and even making our evolution possible. We owe a great deal to this versatile and prolific plant, perhaps even our existence.
I imagine that one day people may eventually start to realize that global warming was caused by Cannabis Prohibition. I know, I cant prove that yet, but what the hell. It's no wilder an accusation than was made by the likes of that crook Harry Anslinger who claimed that "Pot made you a murderous madman". among dozens of other baseless lies. I don't think the question is even beyond an answer from those who could crunch the numbers. Trouble is, even with the numbers, the conception is oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and plastics wouldn't listen, since it gets in the way of profits, or doesn't suit their agenda.
Stop it. Stop the lies, Stop answering our concerns with tired lame excuses of why you can't figure it out for yourself, even when the facts are spelled out for you. Stop letting the criminal element put us at risk and poison our kids and provide the gateway to dangerous drugs, while avoiding contributing to society, paying taxes and abiding by the law like everyone else, they are getting a free ride. Stop letting the corporate mob feed on us while you play dumb politician and the coroners count the victims of the war on cannabis.
Lets Stop it, by SCRAPPING PROHIBITION TOTALLY.
